Rebuilding a psychology
practice website.
South Eastern Counselling and Psychology (SECAP) is a psychology and counselling practice in Narre Warren, in Melbourne's south east, offering appointments in Narre Warren as well as telehealth.
The business
People looking for a psychologist are often anxious and short on time. They need to find the right service, understand what happens next and get in touch, without wading through more than they need to.
The practice also needed to keep practitioner details, services and notices accurate itself, without waiting on a developer for every change.
The problem
The practice was moving off an older WordPress website spread across more than one domain. It needed clearer pathways to its services, assessments and practitioners, and an easier way to keep that information current itself.
The approach
- Restructured the content around how people actually look for help: by service, by assessment type, by practitioner and by organisation.
- Rebuilt the site as a custom build on Vercel, with a private admin area the practice uses for practitioner, practice and notice updates.
- Migrated and rewrote the existing content rather than starting from blank pages.
- Mapped the old WordPress addresses and consolidated the domains, so existing links and search visibility were carried over.

On phones
Navigation, practitioner pages and the enquiry form were designed and tested on phones as well as desktop, with accessibility and user-journey checks before launch.
Search engines
Every page has its own title and description, canonical URLs and structured data, with an XML sitemap. Old WordPress addresses redirect permanently to their new pages, so nothing that was indexed or linked to was lost in the move.
The outcome
The new website is live, and the practice now updates practitioner and notice information itself through its own admin area.
